mod 07.   Tongue Mounted Spare Tire                    Holder and Jockey Wheel mod

This side mounted tire holder was modified to sit on top of the tongue. I just ignored the side clamps.  Rather than attached to the side of the tongue frame, it was secured to the jack post using muffler clamps. Sure beats the original factory location for the spare mounted under the trailer at the rear. Approx. cost $75.

The jockey wheel handle was removed and replaced with a 5" hex head bolt, that was cut to length and drilled to receive the cotter pin.  A 3/4" socket was welded to a replacement crank handle. This change, along with a slightly longer drawbar, allowed my truck tailgate to fully open down without striking the original handle. A great solution to an otherwise inconvenient problem.  Approx. cost $40.
